Martin, his sister and her camera
Martin (18yo) is Ananda’s half-brother. He returned to stay with their mother after living with his father for ten years. He was jobless, had no qualifications, and had spent time in a youth shelter. She had no contact with Martin over the previous decade, and decided to use her camera to help get to know him again.
It’s quite similar in concept with the project B Shot by a Stranger Project, in which the stranger shoots the loner, but here as a voyeur far from the energetic and physical space of the loner, not interefeering.
It seems a story not only about re-encounter but of two loners who happened to be brother and sister lost in space. In 2007, Ananda was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré, an autoimmune disease. As a result, she was homebound in a wheelchair and crutches. During the long period of rehabilitation, she started using photography to reconnect with her surroundings. Her experiences inspired her to focus on human relationships and loneliness. From the beginning, she has been creating personal and intimate stories with sensitivity, compassion and respect.
