Diane Arbus Contact

Few days ago surfing around on photographer’s blogs I found this wonderful contact sheet by Diane Arbus, at the blog of the street photographer Thomas Simon. (Thank you Tom!)

I found it delicious, as I didn’t know it and it’s always wonderful to see contact sheets of photographers.

A contact sheet can not only tell the story behind the chosen photograph, but also as a master classe for us to understand why the photographer chose the final photograph in a bunch of them. So I couldn’t resist to post here the photograph and the contact sheet that gave birth to it.

If you google “contact sheet” you may add the name of your preferred photographers and you’ll find wonderful works there from all the great photographers.
But meanwhile, I leave here one:

  5. I love these. It’s fun to see the shots that didn’t get picked. It’s interesting that it was the first shot that was used. thanks for sharing.

    • You’re right Peter, I didn’t notice that the chosen one was her very first. Curious as I always tell the same, or happens the same when I do a portrait shooting: the first is usually the best or the chosen one, maybe because it’s the more natural or the one in which I can bring the best of the portrayed one. Cheers for your input.
